MIB SKOOKUMS 16” CHEIF with RARE War Bonnet late 1940s
This wonderfully preserved
Skookum Chief is in near mint condition with no damage and no repairs.
He glances to the right. His composition mask face is hand-painted and
his long black mohair braids are wrapped in chenille and the seed bead
necklace is white & brown. Yellow no-sun oval paper label, left foot,
reads: “Trade mark registered // SKOOKUM // (BULLY GOOD) // INDIAN //
U.S.A. // Patented”. His Beacon blanket is richly woven in navy, green
and rust. Pants are cream felt. His moccasins have royal blue and red
designs – somewhat glittery. His chintz collared shirt is cream with
green. The tall war bonnet has a band of oilcloth and twill tape with
large possibly eagle feathers around and streaming down the back. The
box end reads: “SKOOKUM (Bully Good) // The Great Indian Baby Doll //
Trade Mark Registered // No.4096”. Box is near mint, some age spots.
Simply wonderful!!
