11.5" APOLLO KNOT c1840 Papier-Mache MILLINER'S MODEL
The extravagant hairdo on this sweet German papier-mache gives her the charming name "Apollo Knot". The hair-do has poufs of curls at the sides of her face and a tall loose knot-bun molded on top of her head; pink silk ribbon is a pretty trimming. She is in excellent condition with her original paint and finish, clean and sturdy original kid-leather body with no damage or repairs, and original pinked paper topping her original fine wooden arms and legs. Eyes are blue under black brows and lid lines, cheeks are bright and rosy, and she has a tiny smile. All of the clothing is antique and lovely: pink and tan-striped dimity dress with lace trim and deep hem, cotton chemise, petticoat and pantaloons, which have hand-stitched eyelet lace hems. This special girl is irresistible!!
