18” PORTRAIT JUMEAU 2nd SERIES “8” correct body 1880

generation, pressed bisque Correct body with straight wrists, wooden
upper arms, remainder of body is composition, spring in head
attachment goes to wooden bar in torso. Beautiful bisque head with
applied ears, mauve eye shadow and gorgeous hazel-brown glass
paperweight eyes make this already special Jumeau worthy of tribute.
This beautiful French child is an early pressed bisque Portrait Jumeau
marked correctly only with a size number “8” low on her neck and red
artist’s check mark. Over the cork pate is a warm brown mohair wig
with straight bangs and waves past her waist: both are original.
Softly painted brows, the finest lashes and eyeliner, big blushed
cheeks and two-tone mouth with darker lip lines accentuate the pale
all-over blushing of her face. The body is marked “Jumeau Medaille
d’Or Paris” composition body has wooden ball joints at shoulders, hips
and knees. Fantastic Antique original ensemble in bronze ribbed silk
faille, the antique dress is trimmed in brown velvet, string braid and
eyelet diamonds; the matching bonnet has scalloped embroidered ecru
lace and buttery silk satin ribbon ties and bow. Underneath are
antique chemise, petticoat and pantalets all trimmed with various
tucks, lace, insertion and eyelet. Dainty antique crocheted socks and
leather ankle-button shoes A Portrait Jumeau this precious won’t come
along soon!! Very clean bisque, circa 1880 from a non smoking home.
