13.5” SIMON & HALBIG 1079 All Original c1890 JTD Body
Petite and wonderful in all-original mint condition with no damage and no repair, this 13.5" Simon & Halbig #1079 is circa 1890, dressed as a young woman from Amager, Norway. Head incised: "S H 1079-4 // DEP". She has gorgeous blue glass sleep eyes under feathered long brows and finely painted lashes. Plump rosy cheeks, a deeply dimpled chin, open mouth with pretty miniscule pearly teeth, and pierced ears retaining one original earring, contribute to her endearing expression. The original pale blonde mohair wig and pate are still attached to her head. Long braids are coiled around a bun on top under a bow of colorful embroidered velvet ribbon and brass sunburst. Her quality fully jointed composition body has attached ball-joints and is jointed at neck, shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. Charming and factory-original, the outfit consists of an ochre velvet jacket, matching wool flannel skirt hemmed in painted black velvet ribbon, navy cotton apron, floral challis kerchief, and ribbons around her waist matching those in her hair. Underneath are three petticoats: black twill, cream wool flannel and factory scrim, which could be a chemise. She's never been played-with or undressed, and has never had pantalets! Cotton knit socks and tiny black leatherette slip-on shoes with silver buckles on the toes complete the costume. Those huge eyes make her just too precious to resist!!
Very clean from a non smoking home.
