44" French Bisque c1887 Francois Gaultier F.G.MANNEQUIN
This charming young French gentleman consists of a Francois Gaultier perfect bisque head, marked "F.G." in scroll and size "4", and a child-size French mannequin body.
Original huge blue spiral glass paperweight eyes peer importantly from under feathered brows, finely painted lashes, plump blushed cheeks and closed mouth. The newer human hair wig is pale-blonde with tight curls at sides in front and a long ponytail in back, tied with black velvet ribbon. The papier-mache body has a jersey covering and wooden lower legs with carved high-button ankle boots and carved socks to the knees. Dressed as an eighteenth century gentleman, the circa 1890 French child's Masquerade costume is pink silk trimmed with gold braid and brass buttons under a fabulous black velvet jacket – the vest is faux and attached at the inside seams of the jacket. The jabot at his neck is lavish lace matching his ruffled cuffs. His sleeves hang straight (without arms) and his hands are stuffed gloves to complete this extraordinary presentation.
