5"x 12" Keystone View Co MONARCH STEREOPTICON Patd 1904
"Manufactured By // Keystone View Co. // Meadville, PA. // Pat'd. _ 12, 1904" is impressed on the underside of this wood & pressed-tin stereopticon. The viewer is in excellent condition with all-original working parts and perfectly working glass lenses – the tin surround has a pressed stag logo with "Monarch" and hand-engraved scrolling. The mint condition stereo-cards are dated ©1896-1906 and show views of many international sights. On the front of each is the card number and what the scene is, plus "Keystone View Company // Manufacturers Publishers", © date and photographer "B. L. Singley Made in U.S.A." There are black & white photographic scenes from: China, Switzerland, Holland, Monaco, Italy, Japan, Spain, France, Korea, Germany, Turkey, Gethsemane in Palestine, Acropolis in Greece, Cliff House in San Francisco, and the Taj Mahal in India. On the back of each card is a short history lesson about the photographic subject. This portable stereopticon has a folding handle and removable stereo-card holder. A blissful pastime!!
