10” SFBJ PARIS "310 2/0" Outfit c1933 BLEUETTE Pattern
What a little charmer! This is an antique bisque-head French doll for those wishing for a diminutive fashion or travel doll like Bleuette. Head incised: “SFBJ // 301 // PARIS // -2/0-”. She is in near-mint condition with original mohair wig & sleep eyes (her left hand has typical SFBJ chipped paint). Also original are her oilcloth ankle-tie shoes and lacy-knit French socks, and a necklace of glass beads. Incredible cobalt-blue glass eyes have the original long full upper mohair lashes, and painted lower lashes, under feathered brows. Plump rosy cheeks surround her open mouth, which has four tiny upper teeth. Pretty golden-blonde wig has a side part and waves past her shoulders in the original set. The high quality body is composition and wood, with "1" between the shoulders but no numbers under the feet. Beautiful smooth original finish, the body is jointed at neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips and knees. Her clothing has every stitch hand-sewn, most likely from Bleuette patterns in "La Semaine de Suzette" – it is possible her dress came with the pattern and embroidered scalloping pre-printed on the ribbed pique cotton. Two slips - fine cotton and wool flannel, also have scalloped edgings. Underneath is a knit wool two-piece outfit with a scallop-trimmed square neck, which looks just like the 1933-34 #18 for Bambino "Mon Tout Petit", although of a smaller size. A charming crocheted cap with pompom completes her wardrobe – she's such a sweet little doll!
