12 CA.1905 HAND PAINTED CASTLE PLATES BY JH PLANT
A set of 12 hand painted Royal Doulton plates with the signature J.H.Plant. The plates measure 10 1/2", having a scalloped edge and a deep border of raised gold gilt patterning of vining flowers between large vases of floral bouquets. Each plate has a most delicately hand painted scene of a castle with surrounding countryside. The colors are exquisite, and much thought is given to small details in the scenes. Some of the castles are still lived in, some are ancient ruins. Overall, the plates have a most elegant and serene quality.
The purple Royal Dolton back stamp was first used in 1902. The plates are impressed with dates ranging from April through August 1905. There is also the Lovington Bros. stamp.
All plates are in excellent condition WITH NO DAMAGE AND NO REPAIR the 1 Warwick Castle plate has a 1/4" scratch in the sky area.

Kilkenny and Lismore Castles, Ireland
Balmoral, Tarbet and Kilchurn Castles, Scotland
Chepstow and Pembroke Castles, Wales
