12.5” Compo Cameo SCOOTLES All-Original 1925 Near-Mint
One of the most adorable dolls, here in near-mint condition, Scootles is all composition with molded painted hair and painted eyes (no repaints). Designed and copyright by Rose O’Neill and manufactured by Cameo Doll Co., the doll is not marked. Her face is so loveable and high-color with dimpled fat cheeks, a grinning watermelon mouth, button nose and big blue eyes, glancing right, under finely painted upper lashes and tiny dot eyebrows. The hair is light brown and molded curly. The composition is in beautiful condition, with only super-fine crazing only visible up close, and the paint wear on her fingertips. Jointed at neck, shoulders & hips, the arms are slightly curved with splayed starfish fingers and chubby straight legs. Dressed for play in her original check-print cotton romper, rayon knit socks and cream leatherette center-snap shoes. How could anyone resist Scootles’ joyful charming face!
