13”-1930s Composition BUDDY LEE Original COWBOY
This is an all-original Buddy Lee
Cowboy in excellent condition. The Buddy Lee dolls were made for the
H. D. Lee Co., Inc., Kansas City, MO. Composition with molded, painted
brown hair & black boots, jointed only at the shoulders. His darling
little face has painted features with big black eyes, upper lashes,
single-stroke brows and cute smiling watermelon mouth. Buddy is
dressed in crispy all-original outfit of Lee jeans with belt loops,
yellow top-stitching, four faux pockets, perfect "Union Made // Lee"
back-waist label and copper pocket rivets; a red, black & yellow
printed plaid shirt with two pearl buttons, pointed collar, and his
original yellow cotton neckerchief. No fading to costume. This doll
has been stored not displayed. Slight minor crazing only on top of
head, which is typical. He has a tiny spot over each ear that has been
restored. It doesn’t show or detract. Buddy Lee is a great example of
vintage advertising art; and he is so cute in stitched and riveted
jeans!
