16" Papier-Mache c1860 MILLINER'S MODEL Antique Costume
A sweet and gentle expression enhances the overall simplicity of this circa 1860 Milliner's Model. Beautiful hair style poofed in the front with a low bun in the back on top of the bun. The doll is in excellent to near mint condition with all-original paint and finish, firm original cloth body, wooden lower limbs and pinked paper bands in blue.
Head & limbs have no repairs or damage, and only a 1/2" glued split on the cloth of her upper right arm. Her hand-painted face has blue eyes with black lid-lines under nearly straight brows, rosy cheeks and prim closed mouth. Her feet are painted as lavender ankle boots. The early 1860s Princess-style morning gown is softest muslin calico, with two hooks in front and black velvet ribbon sash. Underneath are antique pantalets and crochet -hemmed petticoat. She'd be a perfect mother or teacher for smaller dolls!
