7.5” SIMON & HALBIG 1078 LADY All-Original 1910 Costume
Gorgeous big blue glass sleep eyes give this tiny Simon & Halbig #1078 Lady a most direct and captivating gaze. She is in near-mint condition, incised: “1078 // Simon & Halbig // S & H // Germany // 0/0 (?)”, on a flapper-type body. There is no damage to her lovely bisque head with brown brows, painted lashes, open mouth and four miniscule pearly teeth, pointed chin and plump rosy cheeks. Her original golden-blonde mohair wig is very full, poufed into a low bun in back. The Lady is jointed at neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists and hips (although hips are glued and painted in stationary from the factory); That was because if she sat the legs would go out, lower legs have molded high-heel single-strap shoes, and there is no re-painting or repairs. Dressed for a stroll in the park or a tea party, her original cotton-backed mauve silk walking suit has a long-sleeved jacket with lavender lapels and ankle-length hobble skirt over a striped silk super-stuffed pouter pigeon bodice with braid trim and yellow glass bead necklace. A silk rose corsage decorates her lapel and a tiny black lace and yellow bead purse which is factory original dangles from her shoulder. The fabulous and over-the-top bonnet matches her blouse, with a large silk cockade to complete her outfit with style. She's such a darling and complete little lady!!
