25” SFBJ c1910 Laughing Jumeau #236 Antique Silk Outfit
A life-size character baby, this 25" SFBJ is in excellent condition with a perfect bisque head incised: “SFBJ // 236 // Paris // 12”. Known as the Laughing Jumeau. She has her original striated blue glass sleep eyes with original full hair upper lashes, super-fine lower painted lashes and arched feathered brows. Her brunette human hair wig is in a cute chin-length baby-style bob. Her open/closed mouth has two molded upper teeth and tip-of-the-tongue between rosy plump cheeks. The sturdy beautifully made composition baby body has the original finish. She is jointed at neck, shoulders, and hips, with blushed knees & feet (possible small touch-up on hands). Baby is wearing an antique cream silk dress with embroidered bodice, collar and cuffs. Underneath is a lovely cotton slip with tucks and an eyelet flounce, and ruffle-hem short pantalets. The silk crepe bonnet has a label inside: "Aux Mille & Une Nuits // 8. Chaussee d'Antin. PARIS". The scalloped brim is quilted, chin-strap snaps on the left, and a big aqua silk bow tops of this precious lovable SFBJ baby.
