OLD 14" Native American PLAINS INDIAN Beaded/Hide DOLL
This sweet little personage is circa 1920s-30s or earlier, a non-souvenir child's doll from the western American plains. She is hand-made of trade-cloth stuffed with cotton, with a black wool finest-yarn wig in two fat braids, a white bead mouth, nose, and eyes. Dressed in doe-suede fringed at sleeves, dress sides and hem, the decoration is expertly done in tiny glass beads of opaque white & black, clear green & gold, all stitched with sinew. Her tall boots are also doe-suede outlined with white beads. There is a 4-'L' pierced metal disc stitched to the front of her dress, which says "The Swastika Good Luck Charm" and helps to date the doll. The doll's clothing most closely reflects that of the Blackfoot peoples.
