11” Antique DOOR OF HOPE Amah Serving Woman 1910 flower
Beautifully carved, with a serene portrait expression, Serving Woman is an authentic Door of Hope doll in very good condition. The un-jointed cloth body has a finely carved head simply painted – irises, subtle brows and palest coral closed mouth - and delicately carved ears. Her black hair is smooth all over with finely painted bangs and intricately carved bun low in back. A tiny flower is carved into the center of the bun. Beautiful dainty carved wooden hands extend to her elbows, and her head swivels slightly. Her layered clothing is completely and finely hand-stitched with working ‘frog’ closures so all of the clothing is removable. A white cotton jacket with palest blue edging and lavender 3/4-length wrap-around pants (extensive though even fading of outer clothes) top a plain white shirt and loose pants. Tiny black brocade shoes are on cloth feet. These dolls are so hard to acquire that the lady's tranquil demeanor can’t be overlooked.
