5.5" Antique Miniature FLAT-TOP CHINA COUPLE Dollhouse
Such a charming couple! This tiny
1860s pair is in excellent all-original condition with china
shoulderheads, cloth bodies and stone-bisque lower arms & legs with
painted black ankle-boots. They measure 5.25" tall with molded black
painted hair – flat-top-style with center part and short sausage curls
all around. The sweet faces have black brows & lid lines, blue eyes,
big rosy cheeks and tiny two-tone mouths. Bodies are muslin with
stitched joints at shoulders and hips, so they are quite posable and
sit well. The arms are slender with dainty closed hands and the boots
have flat tan soles. The gentleman is attired in a red wool tailcoat
and navy wool vest, both with miniscule gold bead buttons. His navy
blue wool pants are tied at the knees with tiny black velvet ribbons
and he wears a white silk bowtie at his neck. The gracious lady wears
a gown of ocean blue silk with puffed sleeves and extended skirt-back,
all trimmed in black lace and velvet ribbons. Her dress is melting but
retains its charm & splendor. Underneath is a lace petticoat and very
full fine net bloomers (!) tied at the knee with red silk ribbon. A
jaunty lace-trimmed silk bonnet tops her head, trimmed in blue silk
ribbon. What a wonderful find!!
