Antique Nursing BRU BEBE TETEUR with basket and layette
The sweetest Bru Bebe Teteur displayed in a wicker baby basket, surrounded by her layette. No damage and no repair. Bebe is 13" long, her swivel head marked Bru Jne 4, the bisque shoulderplate marked Bru on one side, No.4 T on the other side. Her body is the Chevrot style (1883-1889) with kid over metal upper arms and perfect Bru bisque hands. The kid body is jointed at the hip with hinged knees and wooden lower legs. The body retains the original scalloped kid collarette and a scrap of the Bru paper label. The original nursing mechanism is a rubber ball (hardened with age) with a turning screw at the back of the head.
Baby has deep blue paperweight set eyes, fine painted lashes, feathered brows and parted outlined lips with a dip in her lower lip for a bottle. She has pierced ears and a soft blonde mohair wig over a cork pate. She wears a hand stitched baby gown, over a tucked petticoat with white work embroidered ruffle, a lawn petticoat, a flannel slip, lace trimmed pantaloons, and hand knit booties. Her bonnet is a confection of ruffled point d'esprit with silk ribbon trim. In addition to this ensemble, her layette consists of a white linen cape, a pique jacket, cotton knit diaper drawers, a crochet covered bottle and a baby rattle.
This dear little doll with her unique nursing mechanism surely brought hours of pleasure to her original owner. Her bisque is all in perfect condition with no damage and no repair so she was well cared for. What a wonderful addition she will be to your collection.
