9.5” SUPER RARE #4 of 8 Dewees Cochran INFANT BOY 1956
Hand-made in latex by Dewees
Cochran, this 9.5” infant boy is oh so adorable and extremely rare. He
is in mint all-original condition, marked: “D.C. // I 2 ’56 // 4”
(only three infant faces made, and 8 of each infant total, this is
Infant face #2); there is no damage and no repairs. The round little
face is hand-painted with deep two-tone blue eyes, miniscule lower
lashes and human hair upper lashes, chubby blushed cheeks, button nose
and smiling open-closed mouth with tongue tip showing. His wig is
palest strawberry blonde human baby hair in a thatch from the crown so
his lightly blushed ears are fully exposed. The realistic body has
tiny nipples, belly button and wrinkles, chubby limbs with fisted
hands, turned out toes, and Y for hiney-buns. Jointed at neck,
shoulders and hips. Baby wears a hand-knit pale blue sweater with
pearl buttons down the front, a pique diaper and crocheted booties
trimmed in blue. This has to be one of the most realistic and adorable
babies in doll form! Reference: The American Doll Artist Vol.1 by
Helen Bullard, pgs. 31-46 & 179. Watch for his baby sister.
