22" GAULTIER c1880 French Fashion "FG-6" Swivel Neck

An elegant c1880 Poupee Peau by Francois Gaultier of Paris, this exquisite lady's perfect bisque swivel head is incised "6", with original cork pate; kid-lined shoulder-plate is incised "FG." on left shoulder and "6" on right shoulder. Feathered long eyebrows arch over finest painted lashes surrounding the tender gaze of pale-blue paperweight glass eyes. Rosy plump cheeks, a lovely straight nose, sweet smiling closed mouth with darker detailing, and ears pierced through the lobes, are fine Gaultier features. Her newer French mohair wig of sunny-blonde has curly bangs, and a vintage natural straw bonnet trimmed with silk ribbons and straw-lace tops her curls. The original firmly stuffed kid fashion body, with separately stitched and wired fingers and toes, has gusseted elbows, hips and knees, and only a small stitched repair at each hip. She is beautifully gowned in c1880-fashion: bustled two-piece Walking Suit of changeable taffeta trimmed in pale-pink silk, pretty lace, net, braid and bows. Antique petticoats with tucks - one hemmed in eyelet, the other hemmed with dainty lace, pantalets, pale-blue kid-leather tie-front boots and cotton knit socks complete her costume.
