6” 1890s KESTNER All Bisque glass eyes Trunk & Wardrobe
This darling all-bisque girl, in
excellent condition, is 6” of Kestner personality incised “168X //
3/0”. Dolly has molded shirred stockings with blue garters and heeled
black one-strap shoes. She has fine painted lashes around deep brown
set eyes, flyaway brows, plump cheeks sweetly blushed, and closed rosy
mouth. The full original blonde mohair wig is styled with bangs, and
curls to her shoulders. Jointed at hips, the plump body has a cute
round belly, sturdy legs and graceful arms gently bent at the elbows
with separate thumbs. There is an old hairline at the back of her head
and one foot has had the toe rebuilt neither really show. Dolly is
dressed for a party in original antique pink chambray jumper with lace
bretelles, pink flannel pointed hat and off white blouse plus fine
cotton pantalets. Clothing in the trunk: deep red silk twill
drop-waist dress with heavy lace plastron; pink crepe de chine dress,
bodice & sleeves of lace; indigo calico jumper and matching indigo
blouse (jumper works with cream blouse, too); indigo calico dress with
ribbon sash; charcoal taffeta jumper; paisley flannel bed jacket or
shirt (works with charcoal jumper); floral voile jumper trimmed in red
ribbon, matching blouse & tam hat. Accessories include: white mohair
pelerine & muff; blue crocheted cap; petticoat; fringed cotton sheet;
pink silk pillow & floral twill quilt. In a tiny fine-woven straw
basket is a bisque bunny, working tiny scissors, ball of wool &
knitting needles (pins), and a set of tin dishes: tea cup, saucer &
plate. The wooden trunk is paper-covered in tan with silver-spotted
green edgings, brass corners and brackets all around. A large brass
latch ("Eagle Lock Co. // U.S.A. // Terryville, Conn.") still retains
the key and locks & unlocks easily. Three travel stickers decorate the
top and one is near the lock. Such a sweet girl and fascinating
package with lots of special bits and pieces!! Very sweet, all
antique, clean from a non smoking home.
