5.5" Circa 1840 WOOD-BODY CHINA "Young Victoria" head
So rare, dainty and wonderful, this circa 1840 "Young Victoria" pink lustre china head is on her original wooded body with china lower limbs and wearing her original clothing (her lower legs are antique slightly-later replacements). The gorgeous head has all-over pink tinting, painted black hair smoothed to a tiny braided bun in back, and the most delicate painting with black brows, finest red & black lid-lines, black eyes, highly blushed cheeks and deep-red mouth. A suggestion of décolletage is molded on the 1" across and 1 1/8" tall shoulderhead. The wooden body is jointed at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, and all of her joints work, as they should. Minute windowpane check dimity is fashioned into a simple yet beautiful dress with gathered bodice, half sleeves to show off her china arms, fitted waist and very full 3/4-length skirt, which shows her molded low-heel shoes. A sash of silk ribbon wraps her waist, and underneath, matching petticoat & leglets with tucks and lovely lace hems. She's simply a breath-taking treasure.Chair is not included.
