Nice 17” 1870s Curly hair CHINA, Antique Costume
Here’s a lovely 1870s china lady
in excellent condition. No damage no repair. She is a Highbrow with
wide forehead and black-painted molded curly hair. Eyes are watery
blue under red & black lid lines, with black brows, rosy cheeks and
tiny slightly smiling mouth. The shoulderhead, marked "4", and two sew
holes on each side stitched with rug thread to the torso. Her shapely
homemade hand-stitched linen body has no joints but is flexible enough
to arrange sitting. Her china lower legs have black molded heeled
ankle boots; 3/4 arms are wooden with flat open hands and creamy
enamel paint (they are old and may be the originals.(china arm were
not always available). There are no repairs; kid leather reinforces
shoulders and knees. Her antique brown plaid dress of the finest wool
is trimmed in colorful heavier wool plaid bands. Underneath is an
eyelet-hemmed petticoat over lace-hemmed pantaloons. This is a sweet
china in a charming dress!!
