15" Automaton LADY PLAYING HARP Vichy c1875 Two Tunes
A lovely portrait face and huge bright blue paperweight eyes distinguish this automaton from Vichy, circa 1875 France. The piece is in excellent condition and when wound the mechanism works smoothly playing two tunes while her head subtly looks to left then right, and her hands go up & down 'playing' the harp. She is on a papier mache base with a outside in the garden motif. The lady is dressed in antique silk and lace over the original scrim petticoat and pantalets. Her soft mohair wig is newer, but those fabulous eyes are original. Long feathered brows, fine lashes, rosy cheeks and gently smiling closed mouth make her a top-of-the-line antique automaton. Circa made in France circa 1875. Very unusual with abundant charm.
No damage and no repair from a non-smoking home.
