8” Alexander WENDY #560-1954 Pinafore Dress NMIB Strung
Alexander-kin Wendy is so adorable in this strung painted-hard plastic version! Those plump cheeks, pointed chin and big blue sleep eyes just make her the sweetest of the 1950s toddler dolls. This one is in near-mint condition, never played-with or undressed, tagged "Alexander-kin" and retains her small wrist tag card. This outfit was shown in the Spring 1954 catalogue as "Wendy #560". Her paint & make-up are perfect with tosca brows, lower lashes, rosy cheeks and tiny bow mouth. The tosca wig is in the original flip-style under her crisp finest-straw bonnet with red velvet around the brim, plus streamers in back. Wendy's dress is organdy with lace-hemmed sleeves and attached V collar of dotted red cotton (her dress has darkened slightly from living in the box all this time). A matching red pinafore, without shoulder straps, buttons to the collar in front and ties through eyelets in back. White rickrack and braid embellish pinafore & collar. Lace-trimmed cotton panties & organdy petticoat; rayon knit sox and red suede-cloth side-snap fuzzy-soled shoes with stitching on top, complete this darling ensemble. Wendy's box has a near-perfect label stamped "Blonde" with no number and still has the neck support.
