Antique Papier-Mache SANTA and WOODEN WAGON c.1900-20s
Just in time for the holidays,
this wonderful Santa and wagon are in excellent condition. Santa has a
papier-mache head, hands and boots on carton, stuffing and wire body.
His red jacket is brushed cotton knit with white collar and trim, his
pants are black felt and he has a white rabbit fur beard. He is in a
half-sitting/standing pose that puts his hiney right at seat level. A
small piece of goose-feather tree is in Santa’s right hand! The dark
red-painted wooden wagon is trimmed in yellow and black with working
wooden wheels and horse frame. The front axle swivels to make smooth
turns. A yellow placard on each side reads: “St. Claus Dealer In Good
Things”. A wonderful set that’s all ready to fill with presents and
goodies!! This is a rare piece for the Christmas Collector!!!
