20" French Henri Alexandre/Steiner c1889 BEBE PHENIX
A gorgeous French young lady, Bebe Phenix is in excellent condition with no damage and no repair. She is wearing a lovely antique costume and bonnet. Henri Alexandre designed the perfect bisque head stamped "PHENIX" and incised "(star) 93". Jules Steiner produced the doll, and the correct Steiner (purple carton) composition body has the original paint finish, jointed at neck, shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, with straight wrists, separate fingers and expressive hands. Long feathered eyebrows arch low over big blue glass paperweight eyes surrounded by long fine painted lashes. Her cheeks are subtly blushed and the open/closed mouth is shaded darker inside. Newer earrings dangle from her pierced ears. Bebe Phenix's antique hand-wefted long human hair wig is honey-blonde with bangs. The crisp pink chambray dress is trimmed with beautiful eyelet sleeve cuffs, neckline and bertha collar, ruffled lace encircles the neck. Midnight-blue silk velvet ribbon wraps her waist with a bow, while on her finely woven natural straw bonnet a matching large bow and ruching make a stunning embellishment. Lace-hemmed cotton petticoat and pantaloons, pink silk knit socks and black oilcloth center-button shoes (size "5") complete this exquisite Bebe Phenix.
