8” Antique miniature Bisque cloth body glass eyes 1885
This precious miniature young
lady is in excellent condition with no damage or repairs. She has a
solid dome shoulderhead marked with a “4”. Beautiful blue glass set
eyes shine under long single-stroke brows and red upper lid lines.
Plump blushed cheeks and a tiny slightly smiling closed mouth add to
her charm. The sawdust-stuffed red cloth body is stitch-jointed at
shoulders and hips, lower arms are stone bisque, lower legs are china
with molded boots – neither arms nor legs are painted just glazed.
Clothing is antique: skirt of dotted Swiss with eyelet ruffle hem,
pink cotton chemise/blouse with lace collar and cotton bloomers that
could make a second outfit without the skirt! Silk satin ribbon wraps
her waist and matching velvet ribbon tops her mohair/floss wig. This
darling girl needs a room setting or a silk cushion to sit upon!!
