STEIFF Ltd Ed 2007 SCHWIBBOGEN Christmas Nativity Set
For the last few years Steiff has been making fascinating Limited Edition Christmas arrangements, and the Schwibbogen is the offering for 2007, of only 750 sets. Eight mohair figures make up the Nativity with six bears - jointed at neck, shoulders & hips – from Steiff's smallest-ever bear at 2.25" for the Baby Jesus, to 3.75" Mary, Joseph and the Three Wise Men. An adorable tiny laying-down lamb and standing donkey complete the set. The German Christmas Schwibbogen is a long piece of fine ash-wood arched over an ash base, which measures 27.5" long, 5.75" deep and 13.5" high. Seven birch candlecups follow the curve of the arch, and Steiff has included two sets of white candles with red Steiff logos. A golden star centers the arch, while a pine-wood stable with tiny manger (Steiff logo at the foot) cradles the Baby Jesus. No detail was too small for Steiff's Nativity: gold-plated crowns & gifts, flowing silk and velvet fabrics, and heavy metal discs for bases, makes this an heirloom for generations to come.
