11.75"x 4" Antique French MINI Wooden ROULETTE WHEEL
Beautifully patinated with an ebonized knob and base-edge, fruitwood was machine lathe-turned into this interesting antique Lotto/Roulette Wheel. In excellent working all-original condition, there are two original baked-clay markers (tiny balls) inside. Hand-written in pencil inside the lid looks like "Kreenhaven 88". The smoothly turned lid has a knob, a hole in the middle for the top of the wooden spindle, and a hole to drop the clay markers through. The wheel spins on the end of the steel spindle sticking 1/4" out of the bottom because the three original ball feet are missing, they could easily be replaced. Inside is a red & black wheel with most of the partitions (23) to keep the ball in place. Numbered 1 through 35, the top of the wheel has a lithographed pattern in the Persian style. French children played a lotto game where they could win tiny china, soft pewter and wooden toys, which usually came tied into a fair stall-looking display box.
Or this could be a miniature traveling adults Roulette Wheel either way it is a very fun antique piece.
