8" Vogue BKW GINNY +Rarest Tagged Dress #6859-1956 MINT
Ginny's outfit is mint and so rare it appears in none of the reference books, and can only be seen in reprints of old Vogue and store catalogues as part of #6859 "Ginny's Party Package" from 1956. The doll comes from the original owner who never played with the outfit, although she did play with her Ginny and mother-made clothing. This perfectly charming float-dress is ecru organdy with stipple-painted red, yellow, blue & white big polka dots, and black velvet ribbon trimming empire waist, straps and sash in back. Ecru organdy panties and a white gauze petticoat with tightly ruffled lace hem are underneath (faint fuchsia stains on petticoat underside in back). The dress has the "Vogue Doll, Inc." blue-printed cotton tag. Ginny wears perfect black vinyl shoes and ecru rayon knit socks, and a lovely natural straw bonnet with plaster apple & cloth leaves completes the ensemble. Ginny's bending knees and walker mechanism work perfectly. Her full pale-blonde Dynel wig is in reset flip-style with bangs, and her sweet face has big blue sleep eyes with molded lashes and tan eyebrows, subtly blushed cheeks and sweet dark pink mouth, looking more like the earlier molded-lash walkers. Please see page 83 in "The Ginny Doll Encyclopedia" by Sue Nettlingham Roberts and Dorothy Bunker. We've never seen this beautiful dress before, and probably won't see it again anytime soon!!
