RARE 22'' ROSE O'NEILL KEWPIE
If you are a Kewpie collector you must have this Kewpie because you will not see another one again soon. If you do it won't be this size. The head circumference is 19". Absolutely smashing and will warm your heart every time you look at it. We have photographed the doll undressed so you can see the mother made patching on the upper arms. We did not take it off to see if it was over done or not. Body is made of cotton sateen that was used in the 1920's to 1930's. The stitching was so well done that we just left it. Wonderful big googly eyes to the side with delicate painted upper lashes. Incredible watermelon mouth that is really smiling and happy. Painted top knot sides and back with what might be a touch of paint touch up on the top knot but, maybe not. The head is really excellent with no damage and no crazing and no paint peel really in excellent condition and full of charm and I mean CHARM. Old clothes 2 piece cotton underset, soft blue cotton dress, old rayon socks.
