8" All-Bisque KESTNER CHARACTER BABY c.1910
What a beautifully modeled joyful and rare-to-find baby! Made by Kestner around 1910, and in near-mint condition, baby has hand-painted features and wears an antique lace-trimmed cotton shift. Blue intaglio eyes have black and red lid-lines under one-stroke brows, and the open-closed mouth has molded lower gums showing. Plump rosy cheeks and a dimpled double chin enhance his sweet face. Bumpy-molded hair is lightly glazed tan to match his brows. His body, jointed at shoulders & hips, is well formed with round belly, baby-fat rolls at knees and elbows, and graceful hands. The right arm is slightly bent as Kestner doll do and the left bends in further, so that when raised his fingers meet his mouth (two center fingers are roughly shaped from the mold, which isn't too noticeable and doesn't detract from his precious self). A sweet tiny baby where's the buggy and nanny? 8" is large for an all bisque baby, hard to find !!!!
