3.5" jointed ALL-BISQUE PAIR Germany Rhine region 1890
These adorable little all-bisque
dolls come dressed in costumes of the Rhine region in Germany. They
are both in excellent all-original condition: painted brows, blushed
cheeks and tiny closed mouths, wire-jointed at shoulders and hips with
tiny cupped hands and molded one-strap shoes with heels, ribbed white
socks and blue garters. Boy: painted blue eyes, auburn mohair under a
crepe paper top hat, white shirt, black ribbon belt, buff knickers and
red-trimmed black felt jacket with glass bead buttons. Girl: brown
glass set eyes, brown human hair under a black felt cap with red
stitching, white blouse, black velvet weskit, calico apron and deep
rose silk satin skirt, decorated with beads and sequins; metal stand.
The boy’s head is incised: “230 // 8 ½”. Such a charming couple!!
