USA Ca1840 Southern Miniature 26" Doll Deacon Bench
American made miniature Circa 1840 Decorated wooden Deacons bench or sometimes called a Settee is original with some family history. This piece has been in a Museum until I bought it. I was told it was made in the South East United States/Virginia, Carolina's is approximately figured from the family history.
Measuring 26" long and 17-1/2" tall was used by a child which makes this so wonderful that it still exists and wasn't destroyed.
The Stenciling of Painted Birds and fruit that looks like a peach is so beautiful with normal wear but considering the age it is really excellent condition !!!! We tried to get many angles of the bench to show the hand cutting of the bottom and back of the seat, also we put a wonderful black cloth doll that DOES NOT go with the bench as a prop to show how lovely it would be for your early primitive dolls. The doll is 20" tall which gives you an idea of the actual size. We do guarantee the age and authenticity of this piece. I have not touched it to do any cleaning or anything else. I will leave that to the new owner. My Idea is to do nothing. Just leave the bench the way it has been since 1840.
