R. John Wright Tom Kitten
Mint and never removed in the box, this is an absolutely adorable animal
doll. He’s hand made of tipped mottled wool plush, firmly stuffed,
and jointed at the neck, shoulders & hips. His limbs are bent at
the elbows & knees in an endearing standing kitten pose and have
claws & paw pads indicated with painting. Tom’s got a
surprised/wistful/somewhat sad expression on his face – definitely
an "I need a home" look! Large pale green bulgy glass eyes implore
one to pick him up. A tiny pink nose and stitched kitty mouth have
long thread whiskers to each side. His fuzzy tail pokes out the back
of his pants. Kitty is wearing a Greenaway-style boy’s one-piece
suit where the wide pants gather to the shirt with buttons at the
waist. His shirt has long sleeves and buttons up the front, with a
ruffled eyelet collar tied around his neck. A large straw boater hat
banded with blue wool felt perches at the back of his head so as not
to crush his soft and perfect kitty ears. A very limited edition from
a master doll maker, this adorable little guy has the "Beatrix
Potter" Collection tag with his addition number and maker, and a
gold button with "RJW". Tom Kitten comes with a soft cover version
of his story, his certificate of authenticity & edition number in
a sleeve, plus a wire stand that fits into tubes in his feet bottoms.
Encased in his lovely sea green presentation box with label &
illustration, plus the outer sleeve to keep his box pristine.
